In this initial assessment session we will discuss your concerns and how occupational therapy will benefit
The OT assessment includes a one and a half hour, one on one session where clinical observations and standardized tests are conducted. These observations and the completed parent questionnaire will help us determine your child's strengths and weaknesses and areas of concern.
The individual therapy session aims to assist children to reach their full potential, through sensory integration therapy, so that they have the confidence to explore, learn new skills and engage with their environment appropriately. Sessions are usually 45 - 50 minutes in length with frequency determined by the therapist and parents following the assessment process.
Parent participation is encouraged throughout the treatment phase to help provide ‘hands-on’ learning experience and the opportunity to gain information about how to continue with strategies at home.
These sessions are individualized and tailored to suit your child & families needs whilst using traditional OT models of practice as well as principles of sensory integration.
